The keyboard is extremely responsive, and preserves every nuance of expression. Korg's Key Touch Control offers three selectable touch curves, allowing the musician to adjust the touch sensitivity to cater for many different playing styles. Even with such a fully-featured keyboard, the SP250 still weighs less than 19kg, making it convenient for transportation and gigging.
In producing the SP250, Korg have carefully and extensively sampled a concert grand piano, faithfully capturing the instrument's expressive nuances to deliver an authentic piano sound. The SP250's piano samples are longer than standard for this class of instrument, giving a more natural sustain and more realistic performance throughout, rather than just during the initial attack. Korg's SP250 offers three concert grand settings as well as an electric grand and honky-tonk piano. In addition, the SP-250 includes a variety of classic electric pianos (tine and reed styles), jazz and church organs, choir and string sounds, clav and harpsichord as well as guitar and mallet percussion sounds. Two of these sounds can be layered to play simultaneously; and the balance adjusted to get the perfect blend. The SP250 also offers reverb and chorus effects, which can be adjusted to light, normal and deep levels.
